MUST READ: Gascon’s hypocrisy the reason behind HoR’s 1k budget appropriation for CHR?

One of the recent controversies in the country includes the overwhelming approval of the House of Representatives to grant the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) a budget worth P1, 000 for 2018. This so-called “comical” budget appropriation has been the focus of speculation by concerned individuals, especially by the human rights activists.

In connection to this hot issue, several critics expressed their two-cents on the controversy. Some express unfavourable statements against the House of Representatives who voted for the considerable budget cut while others explicitly blame the Commission of Human Rights for such overwhelmingly minimal appropriation.

One of those who share the same thought as the latter is Mark Lopez, a distinguished critic who publishes noteworthy commentaries on several socio-political issues of the country. In his recently published Facebook post, Lopez asserted that the appropriation issue wilfully approved by the House of Representatives is a mere justification of the ceasing trust of the Congress on the Commission of Human Rights, particularly on its head Chito Gascon.

“That Congress voted to give P1k annual budget for the Commission of Human Rights is simply a vote of no confidence in Chito Gascon...Yes Chito, it's about you and your clearly biased leadership. You did nothing but abuse an office for your partisan activities.” Lopez claimed initially.

Lopez claimed that if Gascon is really a human rights advocate, he would voluntarily vacate his position and resign. The critic also affirmed that Gascon’s “Yellow” allies will accordingly work out their propagandas to defend their CHR Commissioner comrade.

“If you really care about Human Rights, all you need to do is resign…Of course it is expected that you and your dilawan elites will milk this issue and make you appear the underdog hero being bullied by a Congress that is so allied with a very popular president.” Lopez stated additionally.

Lopez also pointed out the “connection” between Gascon and severalprominent nemeses of current Duterte administration.

“Yes we know you are part of the cabal who conceptualized the sordid plots which include Matobato, Lascañas, the Leni UN video, the Trillanes-Alejano ICC adventure, and the recruitment of Agnes Callamard and Phelim Kline as your allies. And we know your close coordination with church leaders and their hypocritical moves.” Lopez stated presumptively.

Furthering his speculations, Lopez nitpicked on the flaws and blunders of CHR Commissioner Chito Gascon. Pointing out that Gascon does not conform to his mandate to uphold the human rights, Lopez emphasized that the Commissioner should rightfully and voluntarily resign.

“These are the activities that you all did, thanks in large part to taxpayer money that was put in the coffers of CHR...Yes, we know how you keep on abusing the Commission of Human Rights to undermine this administration…

Yes, we know you are one of the leading figures in making our country look bad in the eyes of the global community…Yes we know Mr. Gascon, that you really are not in this to uphold Human Rights in its purest sense…You are here representing what is humanly wrong with politics! Resign now Sir!” Lopez conclusively ended.
