    South Korea to donate $6.6M worth of aid to the PNP

    On Wednesday, South Korea affirmed its intention to provide 6.6 Million USD worth of aid and assistance to the Philippine National Police (PNP) to pave a way for a better and improved criminal investigation capabilities among the police forces of the country.

    The said grant provided by the Korea International Agency, will cover a five-year period starting last year until 2020.

    Also, among the investigation equipment covered by the grant include patrol vehicles, motorcycle bikes and investigation kits.

    Moreover, professionals or experts from South Korea will be dispatched in the country to provide necessary consultation services to enhance and better the implementation of the project.

    The project is aimed to “transfer practical knowledge and skills on general and internal affair investigation, investigation of violent crimes, patrol and initial response, and forensic and cybercrime investigation.” This will be established through a “capacity-building” programs among Philippine officials and personnel.

    Recipients of the said project include: the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG), the National Capital Region Police Command Office (NCRPO), and the Police Regional Offices in Cordillera, Central Luzon, and Central Visayas.

    Also included in the deal were a number of local and joint workshops together with international non-government organizations that will address crimes and issues against women and children.

    The project will be implemented in some major locales such as Metro Manila, and cities of Davao, Cebu, Angeles, and Baguio.
