Journalist: Don't fall into LP trap, they're only afraid of Napoles because they can get caught

Journalist Jojo Robles on his Facebook account warned the public to not "fall into the trap" of the Liberal Party claiming that Pork Barrel mastermind Janet Napoles will falsely implicate LP politicians.

"Don't fall into the LP trap of believing that Napoles will be used only to get back at the Yellows. Only those who stole their pork barrel funds, whatever their political affiliation, should fear the prospect of Maam Jenny being given the microphone and starting to sing," he said.

Robles said that this isn't about political color, but about catching the thieves.

Several LP Senators including Risa Hontiveros and Kiko Pangilinan have opposed the possibility that Napoles may soon be the state witness of the reinvestigation on the Priority Development and Assistance Funds or pork barrel.

Pangilinan said that Napoles who is the mastermind should not be allowed to testify as it is "legally questionable".

Hontiveros on the other hand, said that Napoles may implicate opposition leaders even if they did nothing wrong.

DOJ has announced on Monday that it will for a committee to investigate the case.

"We are going to constitute another task force…pwedeng NBI-DOJ, pwedeng within the DOJ family, but masyadong maaga pa, but definitely we are going to investigate," said Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre who added that the move is by the orders of President Rodrigo Duterte who wants to know the truth.

Aguirre added that when Napoles surrendered in August 2013, she was reportedly accompanied by then President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III and Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas to the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crime.

He clarified that he was not implying the guilt of those who accompanied Napoles.

"What I'm just trying to say is that why did this person go straight to Malacañang, to the highest officials of the land, including Cabinet secretaries. You can say that high-ranking people are involved here," he said.
