Defensor-Knack hits Inquirer: They'll do to Duterte what they did to Miriam Santiago

Bringing up the events of 1992 to her sister, Miriam Santiago, Atty Paula Defensor Knack lambasted the publication Philippine Daily Inquirer for allegedly spreading "black propaganda" on Santiago, the same thing it is doing to President Rodrigo Duterte at the present.

Knack, an international law expert, said that the "specialty" of the publication is a "demolition job" to public officials.

In the 1992 elections, Santiago ran against retired genera Fidel Ramos who won over a small margin. Santiago was leading in the first five days but was overtaken by Ramos. Santiago then accused her opponent of electoral fraud.

During the campaign period of 1991 to 1992, Santiago was attacked in several publications, being called demagogue who degraded employees to launch her own political career.

Knack said that all the accusations directed at her sister were unverified.

She added that this is the same thing that the company is doing to the president.

"Ngayon si Pres. Duterte naman tirahin nyo at pinapalaki nyo ang mga non-issues na akala mo magunaw na ang mundo?! Susundan ko kaso nyo!" the lawyer said.

Duterte recently lambasted the Prietos who own the agency for alleged tax evasion and biased news reportage.

"EH CRONY LANG NAMAN PALA na hindi nagbabayad ng rentals at taxes ng ilang dekada!" Knack added, throwing shade at the Cojuanco-Aquinos that are allegedly supporting the Prietos and helped them get away with their violations.

    "Turuan ng leksyon!" she said.
