    WATCH: Highlights of the Official Visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Davao City

    Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrives in Manila with his wife Akie Abe for a two-day official visit on Thursday, January 13. He was the first leader to visit the Philippines and the first foreign leader that President Rodrigo Duterte receives in his hometown in Davao City as President of the Republic of the Philippines.

    PM Abe flew to Davao City Thursday night and visited the humble house of President Duterte on Friday morning, January 13.

    President Duterte serves local rice cakes – biko, suman, and kutsinta and mongo soup for the Prime Minister and his wife. PM Abe spent 45 minutes in Duterte's house, 10 minutes of these in the President's room.

    "We also showed him how the President enjoys the comfort of his own bed, including his old and favorite mosquito net (kulambo)," said Special Assistant to the President Bong Go.
