Senator Zubiri Strongly Believes to General Bato's Leadership

On Wednesday, during the Senate probe on the death Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa, PNP Chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa became emotional after Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri acknowledged and commended his efforts in resolving the illegal drug campaign of the current administration.

As Kerwin Espinosa, son of the late Albuera Mayor, confess his involvement on illegal drugs, he has mentioned names of police officials he paid 'payola' in exchange for protection on their illegal drug operations.

Senator Zubiri then expressed his disappointment after hearing names of police officials involved. He also noted that President Rodrigo Duterte has earlier showed them a list of alleged PNP officials and personalities involved in this illegal activity.

"Sa tingin ko, ikaw (PNP Chief Dela Rosa) na lang ang pinagkakatiwalaan namin. Ikaw na lang talaga ang pag-asa namin, because we believe in you," said Zubiri. He also manifested his 100% support to PNP and President Duterte's war on drugs.

This statement made the PNP Chief emotional as he laments to the loss of public trust to PNP and their difficulty to resolve the illegal drug problem in the country.

“Your honor, I can’t blame the public if they are losing trust and confidence to the police because I, myself sabi ko nga, hindi mo na minsan alam kung sino ang pagkakatiwalan (have said, you no longer know whom to trust).. Minsan your honor, pinapasa Dyos ko na lang ang sitwasyon namin sa PNP. Gusto ko lang ma reform ang PNP… Pero ako’y hirap na hirap na (Sometimes, I just pray to God for help in the PNP. I just want to make reforms in the PNP. But I am already really tired),” said the teary eyed PNP Chief.

Senator Zubiri then apologized to General Bato. He also approached the PNP Chief and hugged him.
