On Monday, Comelec announced on their official Facebook Page the postponement of ballot printing for Barangay and SK polls.

The Commission on Elections said that the printing of ballots for the 2016 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections has been suspended since Friday, August 26.

"We are suspending the printing following the statement of President Rodrigo Duterte," said Atty. Genevieve Guevarra, head of the Comelec Printing Committee.

The Commission on Elections stated that the printing of 85 million ballots from August 21, despite proposals to postpone the October 31st elections. The ballots for the SK elections are scheduled to be printed on September 1.

"If there is still no law or a joint resolution from Congress on the postponement by September 1, we will resume the printing," Atty. Guevarra added.

The Comelec said that the cost per ballot is P3.00 from the initial price of P3.80 that was given by the National Printing Office (NPO).
