The long wait is over for millions of Filipino pageant fans!

Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo announced on July 27, 2016 that Miss Universe will be held in the Philippines on January 30, 2017. She assured that the government is not going to spend a little centavo on the said pageant. It will be the private sector who would shoulder the expenses amounting $11 million. She also confirmed that Japanese billionaire and chief of Tiger Resort, Kazuo Okada, as well as the country's richest man, Henry Sy, are among the sponsors.
On July 21, 1974, Philippines hosted Miss Universe for the first time. After two decades, it will be held again in the country.
Meanwhile, Miss Universe 2016 Pia Wurtzbach will be crowning her successor on the said event while Maxine Medina will be the Philippine’s representative for Miss Universe 2017.
